For once Quadra relegates Chardonnay to the role of co-star in a cuvée. The base of this QRosé Brut, in fact, is a clear prevalence of Pinot Noir, about 80%. It is precisely this rebellious and vertical nature that makes this wine the perfect "alter ego" of the Satèn, which is made exclusively from white grapes. Fermented in steel and barriques, the wine is aged for a period of no less than 40 months before disgorging. Elegant in the glass with its soft pink color and fine perlage, this Franciacorta immediately reveals the two souls that make it what it is. On the one hand, the small red fruits that come from Pinot Noir; on the other hand, the creaminess and roundness coming from the percentage of Chardonnay. The result is an elegant and satisfying wine. Safe to bring to the table when the menu includes a nice seafood risotto.
Quadra is Franciacorta. In the sense that it is one of the most appreciated companies in the area, known by enthusiasts from all over Italy for the unquestionable quality of its sparkling wines. The Quadra winery is located in Cologne, in the province of Brescia, not too far from the southern shore of the lake. The location is in the heart of Italy's best-known sparkling wine territory. The company has about twenty hectares of vineyards, split into five different territories. Here the Chardonnay is the absolute protagonist, with about 60% of the total area. With it go the ever-present Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir, used in the different Cuvées offered by the winery to enhance the character and originality of the wine. Since 2008, at the helm of the company there is oenologist Mario Falcetti, who is considered by many as the true reason for the success of the winery in Franciacorta. He is flanked by a team of six skilled aides.
