Toscana Rosso IGT, Podereadua is a 100% Syrah proposed by Poggio Argentiera, a fine Maremma winery that has long been a protagonist of the region's wine scene. Grapes from vineyards in the Baccinello area, where the soils are rich in pebbles of alluvial origin with the presence of calcareous clay. Garden vineyards, carefully tended according to the principles of Integrated Pest Management. Harvested by hand in 20 kg crates, the grapes undergo traditional fermentation, with long maceration on the skins for about three weeks in temperature-controlled steel tanks. At the end of the transformation, the wine matures in barriques for about 12 months, until it reaches the right aromatic complexity. An intense and pure wine, it is the perfect representation of the profound interaction between vine and terroir. Notes of liquorice, black pepper, all accompanied by a surprising softness and delicate hints of wood. A wine that is good right from the start but which, the winery guarantees, has the potential to evolve more than 10 years in the bottle.
Poggio Argentiera was born in 1997. The starting point was Podere Adua, dating back to the early 20th century, the time of the reclamation of the Maremma. The original 6 hectares were used to produce Morellino di Scansano, and only later was the new wine-making cellar built. Then, in 2001, the property was expanded thanks to the purchase of another farm, Keeling, located in a hilly area in the municipality of Scansano. Today, the company can count on a total of 20 hectares of productive land included in the Morellino DOCG. The vineyards of Podere Adua are located at sea level, a few kilometres from the Tyrrhenian coast. The situation is quite different for the Keeling estate, which is located at a higher altitude, in the hills. Since 2009, the entire estate has been run according to the dictates of organic farming, with the aim of seeking a balance between the plant and the surrounding environment.
