Another fine label proposed by Champagne Olivier et Laëtitia Marteaux. We are talking about Brut Réserve, a blend of Pinot Meunier in a large majority (around 65%), Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in similar percentages. In this case, however, the important thing to note is that the Chef de cave also decided to use a portion of reserve wines, around 20/30%, from previous vintages and stored in the cellar in temperature-controlled steel tanks. This addition contributes to making the basic cuvée more complex and richer. But it is not enough. In fact, the bases are also allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation, adding character and personality. Maturation on the lees in the bottle, in this case, lasts a minimum of 36 months, followed by a further 3-6 months of rest in the cellar after dégorgement. To the eye, one discovers a wine characterised by a beautiful straw-yellow colour, made brighter by the fine and abundant effervescence. The nose reveals a fresh and fruity wine, with delicate hints of ripe fruit, citrus fruits and flowers. In the mouth it is pleasantly mineral, complex and long. A perfect wine for a thousand occasions. Excellent as an aperitif, it goes well with both meat and fish dishes. Already good today, it is a Champagne that can safely evolve in the cellar even for 5 or 10 years. We will always find it ready to give us great satisfaction on the right occasions.
The history of this Champagne House began in 1950, thanks to the work of Marcel Marteaux, a wine grower and nurseryman. However, it was his son Joël Marteaux, who succeeded him in 1968, who gave real impetus to the company, as well as extending the vineyard property. Finally, in 1998, by adhering to the RM (Recoltant Manipulant) statute, Joël's son Olivier, with the help of his wife Laëtitia, created his own maison under the name Champagne Olivier et Laëtitia Marteaux. We are located in Azy-sur-Marne, where the small family-run business can count on a total of 9 hectares of property, divided into 40 parcels, in the vicinity of no less than seven communes, Bonneil, Romery-sur-Marne, Charly-sur-Marne, Azy-sur-Marne and Essomez-sur-Marne, all located on the right bank of the Vallée de la Marne between Château-Thierry and Charly sur Marne.
