  • Location Languedoc-Roussillon
  • Grapes Cannonau, Syrah, Cinsault
  • Sensations This Côte des Roses rosé is delicate, pale and bright, with bluish reflections that evolve towards more orange hues with time. The nose offers aromas of red fruits, blackcurrants and redcurrants. Floral notes of rose and hints of citrus and grapefruit complete the aromatic profile. The palate is fresh, mouthfilling and has great aromatic persistence and nice balance. Fresh finish on fruity notes.
  • Vinification The different grape varieties are harvested separately with the aim of reaching optimum ripeness for each one. The vinification process is then regulated to respect the specific characteristics of the grape varieties and the peculiarities of each terroir. The grapes are destemmed and cooled to 8°C before going to the press to extract the must. Much attention is paid to the pressing so that only the first and most qualitative juices are preserved. The juices are then more or less racked off, depending on the desired aromatic profile. Fermentation lasts from 15 to more than 30 days depending on the degree of clarification and the temperature applied. The particularity of these vinifications also lies in the attention paid to the colour and aromatic purity of the wines obtained. Finally, after a slight clarification, the wine is bottled fairly early to preserve its fresh and fruity character.

"Côte des Roses" DOP Languedoc Rosé 2023
  • Languedoc Rosé 'Côte des Roses' by Gérard Bertrand is a magnificent Provençal rosé wine produced from a cuvée of three grape varieties: Cannonau, Syrah and Cinsault. A well-made and extremely enjoyable wine, perfect as an aperitif or to accompany a dinner of sushi and sashimi (but not only). The different varieties are harvested separately, with the aim of allowing them to reach optimal maturity. The vinification process is also regulated to respect the specific characteristics of the grape varieties and the peculiarities of each terroir. Once in the cellar, the grapes are destemmed and cooled. It is then passed into the press, where it is gently squeezed to extract only the purest must. The subsequent fermentation phase lasts from 15 to more than 30 days, also paying great attention to achieving the right colour and aromatic purity of the wines obtained. The last step, after a slight clarification, the wine is bottled to preserve its fresh and fruity character. Delicate pink, pale and brilliant at the same time, in the glass it has bluish reflections that evolve towards more orange hues with time. The nose offers aromas of red fruits, blackcurrants and redcurrants. Floral notes of rose and hints of citrus and grapefruit complete the aromatic profile. In the mouth, it is fresh, mouthfilling and has great aromatic persistence and nice balance. The finish is fresh on pleasantly fruity notes.

The story goes that Gérard Bertrand harvested his first grapes back in 1975, working alongside his father Georges for the next 12 years. He was then among the vineyards of Château de Villemajou in the heart of the AOC Corbières. Since then, almost half a century later, Gérard's business has grown a great deal, to the point where it now covers practically all the best terroirs in the South of France. What began as a small family estate under his leadership has developed into the most important producer in the region. Today, there are no fewer than 11 Châteaus under Gérard Bertrand's hat, producing all the major appellations of Southwest France. For years, the company has also been recognised as one of the most important producers of organic and biodynamic wines in the country. As well as for the production of rosé wines, including some of the world's best-selling and most prized.
