Lumera is an unusual rosé, the result of a targeted selection of red grapes. Sicilia Doc Rosato, in fact, this wine comes from a complex blend of indigenous and international grapes. Nero d'Avola, in particular, with Syrah, Nocera and a little Pinot Noir. Grapes that have reached perfect ripeness under the warm sun of south-western Sicily, in the historic Contessa Entellina estate and neighbouring territories. Bright pink in colour, this wine reveals from the very first moment a broad and fragrant bouquet, with fruity notes of wild strawberries and pomegranate, combined with delicate floral hints of violets. In the mouth it is fresh and sapid with a good structure and a pleasant persistence. Perfect as an aperitif, it also accompanies seafood salads with complete satisfaction. For a romantic dinner, it should certainly be tried with refined raw fish and shellfish.
There are companies that every wine lover thinks he knows everything about. Simply because they have always represented the world of Italian wine. Among these, there is no doubt that a special place is occupied by Donnafugata. A winery that for many is synonymous with Sicily and quality wine. A historic brand owned by the Rallo family, Donnafugata produces wines in different areas of Sicily. From east to west, from Trapani to Mount Etna, there is no wine-producing area in Sicily where Donnafugata does not have a vineyard. What few people know, however, is that the name Donnafugata is due to Gabriella Rallo, the wife of the founder and mother of the two enterprising managers of the company today. Gabriella Anca Rallo, a courageous woman with a flair for innovation, was a pioneer of quality viticulture in Sicily. She is the real "donnafugata" (woman on the run) who abandoned her job as a teacher to take care of the Contessa Entellina vineyards full-time. One of the first women in Sicily to produce wine, in a sector typically dominated by men. A true pioneer of quality wine-growing by women. All that remains, therefore, is to say thank you to Gabriella. For being so brave and for inspiring all this. Cheers!
