The designation Castelli di Jesi DOC refers to the hilly area surrounding the town of Jesi, located inland in the Marche region near the Adriatic coast. Known for its fresh and mineral aromatic profile, this white wine is one of the best loved and best known in the region. The name Verdicchio derives from the greenish colour of the grapes. Appreciated in Italy and abroad by enthusiasts and experts alike. The one proposed here by the Società Cooperativa Cantina dei Colli Ripani, called Chapter 7, has the specification 'Classico' that refers to the particular origin of the grapes used in its production. Vineyards that are located in the historic and original area, smaller and more circumscribed than the entire Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi area. Wines from this area are usually considered to be of superior quality, thanks to the special soil and climate conditions that characterise the area. Brilliant straw yellow with fine greenish reflections, the nose has hints of green apple, almond, aromatic herbs and white flowers. In the mouth, however, the wine is fresh, with good acidity. The body is medium and it is easy to recognise the typical savoury and mineral note on the finish. On the table it goes well with seafood dishes. Try it with spaghetti with urchins or a tasty fried fish.
