With a dosage of about 7 grams of sugar, this 100% Blanc immediately reveals itself as a pleasantly dry Champagne, although not excessive. It is made from pure Chardonnay from the village of Baroville, in Côte des Bar. The technique is the traditional one of the region which starts with a manual harvest of the grapes when they are perfectly ripe, pressing of the whole bunch and alcoholic fermentation in steel. Malolactic conversion is then promoted, which makes the wine more complex, only partially reducing its initial acidity. This is followed by bottling and maturation in the cellar. In the cuvée, most of the wines are from the same vintage while about 30% are “riserva” wines from previous years. Light gold color, hints of pear, candied citrus and meringue emerge on the nose. On the palate, however, it speaks of lemon zest, croissants and hints of chantilly cream.

Basically a company that produces wines from grapes that are contributed by small farmers in the area. It is based in Baronville. The location is the Croquette des Bars in Champagne. De Barfontarc was founded in 1962, thanks to the initiative of about 50 growers who decided to join forces to face an increasingly complex and global market more effectively. In the beginning it was simply a pressing center. But with the passing of the years and the increase in the number of contributing members (today there are more than 110), the company has gradually grown and organized itself and created its own brand. The name of Barfontarc originates from the initials of the three villages from which the first vignèrons came, namely Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville.
