The most beloved of aromatic grape varieties, Traminer, in a super fresh version offered by T?zk? We are in Hungary, where the Antinori family owns this estate in the Bataapati area of the Tolna hills, 150 km south of Budapest. Processing of this white begins with careful selection of grapes in the field. Hand-harvesting only the best grapes and fast delivery to the winery to safeguard the finest and most delicate aromas as much as possible. In winemaking, reductive technology is adopted, that is, in the absence of oxygen, to obtain clearer and more delicate musts. After a quick 6-8 hour maceration on the skins, the must is fermented in a steel tank. Brilliant yellow in color, the nose reveals the elegance, finesse and intense aromaticity typical of the varietal, with notes of tropical fruits such as lychee, passion fruit and apricot and citrus nuances reminiscent of tangerine, grapefruit, and rose petals. A super rewarding white, it is perfect as an aperitif but also goes well with fish dishes, salads and white meats.
The T?zk? Estate is located in the Bataapati area, among the hills of Tolna, 150 km south of Budapest. T?zk? has long been linked to the French-born noble family of the Counts Apponyi, whose lineage dates back to the early 1700s. The potential and history of these lands have attracted the interest of important wine producers, including Jacopo Mazzei and Piero Antinori, who have been linked to the world of wine for generations and have found an area here suited for the production of high-quality wines. The new winery on the T?zk? estate, equipped with the latest technology for grape processing and bottling, was built in 1991. Within the estate, however, there is also an old underground cellar built in the early 1700s. This unique environment provides optimal conditions for wine maturation due to an annual temperature fluctuation of about one degree. And it works just as well today as it did 300 years ago when it was made by the Apponyi family. Also located within the estate is a world-renowned tonnellerie, or barrel factory. The barrels produced here, of excellent quality, are used in several countries around the world, including Italy, Spain, Austria, France, Australia, South Africa, Chile, Canada and California, often outperforming competition from France or the United States. These barrels, made of Hungarian oak (quercus petrea) are the real secret of the quality of the wines produced on the T?zk? estate.
