Rafaèl is the name of the first historic vineyard of the Tommasi family. Archaeology of the vineyard stuff, that’s how historical it is. Still bred with the traditional Pergola Veronese system. We are in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, on the slopes of Monte Masua. Here, from the very beginning, the ancestors of the Tommasi family were certain that the conditions were ideal for the production of a Valpolicella Superiore, a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, in percentages that vary each year. After the harvest and the vinification, a good 15 months of refinement in 65 hectolitre Slavonian oak casks follow to complete the process. The result is a great wine of tradition. Good as of now but also capable of remaining patiently in the cellar waiting for the right opportunity. In the glass you will find a bright ruby red, dominated by floral and fruity aromas, with ripe cherry in clear evidence. In the mouth, however, you will find a subtle and velvety wine. Versatile enough to accompany both the classic meat-based dinner and a slightly spicy but still very tasty fish soup.
From Veneto to the whole world. Tommasi is a family business founded in 1902 and today it is run by the fourth generation of the family. A name that is, for many wine lovers, a guarantee of absolute quality. Over the years the company has grown a lot, acquiring vineyards and properties in different parts of Italy. Today the Tommasi Family Estates is a solid business reality, which can count on a total of about 570 hectares of vineyards, divided into five regions. Seven estates between Valpolicella Classica and Puglia, passing through Lombardy, Tuscany and now even Basilicata. Unlike other entrepreneurial realities that, as they have grown, have gradually lost their taste for quality research and their passion for the territory, at Tommasi these values have remained central. A great company awarded by international critics and present with its products in dozens of markets, which has been able to maintain a family spirit.
