The Pelassa 2020 Langhe Corte Enrichetta shows hot-vintage aromas of dried fruit, prune and raspberry jam backed by tarry spice and powdery licorice root. That soft ripeness underlines the wine's approachable and easy-drinking personality.
The harmony of Shubert's famous 'Incompiuta', Symphony No. 8, drifts pleasantly through the room. This is the right moment to uncork this interesting pure-blooded Piedmontese. This is the Langhe DOC Corte Enrichetta, proposed by Pelassa. Barbera and Nebbiolo, cultivated at over 300 metres and harvested between the beginning and middle of October. A simple but by no means banal wine. A red that is appreciated for its great versatility and good value for money. Fast vinification, with a super careful technique that includes, in addition to temperature control, a micro-oxygenation process to soften the tannins and enhance the varietal aromas. This is followed by ageing for about a year in steel tanks before bottling. Ruby red in colour tending towards violet, this wine has a vinous and fruity bouquet. It is pleasant on the palate, with moderate acidity and a particularly persistent and harmonious finish. A wine for the whole meal, it goes well with first courses, cheeses and red meats.
Situated in Montà d'Alba, the Pelassa winery leads vineyards in the Roero and Verduno, for the production of Barolo. Mario founded the Pelassa company in 1960 at the end of his military service. Today, it is run by the whole family, with Maria Teresa, known as Teresina, who has always been at Mario's side, and her sons Davide and Daniele, in the vineyard and cellar respectively. A scrupulous work of selection and clonal programming within the new plantings, and great efforts for investments in the cellar, guarantee the enhancement of the quality of the grapes harvested and the achievement of the objective of producing wines that have a full wine-vineyard-terroir correspondence. It is no coincidence that in recent years the company has concentrated mainly on the cultivation of the three varieties that are best suited to the typical soils of the area: Arneis, Nebbiolo and Barbera.
