      Moscato d'Asti DOCG 2024
    • Fratelli Gancia's Moscato d'Asti DOCG: sweetness and natural aroma from the hills of Piedmont. It comes from a region of rare beauty that boasts an ancient winemaking history. Its modern, sweet and slightly sparkling version became popular in the 19th century, thanks to innovative techniques of controlled re-fermentation. Made exclusively from Moscato Bianco di Canelli grapes, an aromatic variety known for its fragrance and sweetness, the grapes used for this Moscato d'Asti by Gancia are harvested by hand to ensure the maximum integrity and quality of the fruit. After harvesting, they are transferred to the cellar and immediately subjected to a soft pressing. The must obtained undergoes a natural decantation, is filtered and kept at a temperature of 0°C to preserve its aromas. The subsequent fermentation takes place in small autoclaves with the addition of selected yeasts, following the Martinotti Method, which maximises the aromatic characteristics of the White Moscato. In the glass it has a brilliant golden yellow colour. It has an aromatic bouquet with floral hints of peach, sage, acacia and honey. On the palate, the flavour is delicate, with an excellent balance between sweetness, acidity and liveliness, with a good aftertaste. It goes perfectly with jams and fruit tarts, paradise cake, panettone, colomba and apple charlotte. Its sweetness and freshness also make it ideal as an aperitif or paired with blue cheeses.

Since 1850, Cantine Gancia has been a leader in the Italian wine industry, with a history that is intertwined with that of Italian sparkling wine. Founded by Carlo Gancia, a Piedmontese visionary, the company has been able to combine tradition and innovation, becoming a global point of reference for lovers of wine and quality aperitifs. After studying in Reims, France, Carlo Gancia returned to Italy with the ambitious goal of creating a sparkling wine that could compete with the best French champagnes. And so, in 1865, after years of experimentation, the first Italian Classic Method Sparkling Wine was born, made with Moscato grapes, a native variety of Piedmont. This wine, called Moscato Champagne, marked the beginning of a revolution in the world of Italian sparkling wine, laying the foundations for what would become one of the most innovative companies in the sector. But Gancia's innovation didn't stop there. At the end of the 19th century, the company launched the first Vermouth, a unique product made without the addition of caramel, based on an infusion of aromatic herbs and a Moscato base. This Vermouth, which won an award at the International Fair in Chicago in 1893, became a model for all subsequent producers, further consolidating Gancia's role as a pioneer in the sector. Today, Cantine Gancia is a global brand, present in over 70 countries with a range of products that includes Metodo Classico and Charmat sparkling wines, aperitifs, vermouth, bitters and gin. With a production capacity of over 40 million bottles a year and marvellous historic cellars, the company combines industrial production with artisan attention to detail, guaranteeing quality and authenticity at every stage of the process.
