The estate of origin is Montiano. We are in the heart of Lazio and the producing company is one of those that count. We are talking about Famiglia Cotarella, with vineyards and properties between Umbria and Tuscany, as well as Lazio of course. Sodale, specifically, is a pure Merlot. Lazio IGP, the grapes used for its production come from the same vineyards as Montiano, the estate's flagship wine. As is customary at Cotarella, the utmost attention is paid to every step, from the harvest to the subsequent grape selection phase. Everything is done to obtain a wine of the highest quality. Harvested by hand, the grapes are brought immediately to the cellar to be sent to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. During each stage of processing, strict temperature control as well as frequent pumping over and delestage ensure a well-balanced wine, rich in fruit and characterised by soft tannins. After racking, the wine is passed into barriques, where it also undergoes its malolactic fermentation, and then matures for approximately 9 months. Intense red in colour, with violet hues, on the nose the notes of red fruit and sweet spices emerge clearly, blending in a perfect balance with the vanilla notes due to the passage in wood. In the mouth, it is round, harmonious and pleasant, with a finish of good persistence and sweet tannin.
