The dream of producing a classic method with indigenous grape varieties was created in Durin many years ago. After long studies, this Bàsura Obscura Brut was created, produced from Pigato grapes harvested in the company's vineyards in the Arroscia Valley. Its peculiarities, however, are not limited to the basic grape variety but also to the particular location found for the long aging (over 30 months) in bottle inside the Caves of Toirano winding and curvy in one of the most beautiful corners of Liguria. The caves represent the perfect cellar and "Basura" is the witch that gives the name to one of the most suggestive rooms. The bottles rest in the darkness, in the silence, in the cold and in the constant humidity of the cave, not far from the remains of the cave bear and the evidence of the prehistoric man who lived 12,000 years ago. For production, the base wines undergo cryo-maceration and partial ageing in second or third passage used barriques. The draught is carried out with the partial addition of sugar. The wine obtained is an important sparkling wine, characterized by a fine and persistent perlage. Straw yellow colour, intense aromas of almond and candied fruit on the nose, with notes of white flowers and vanilla. There are also clear hints of yeast that recall the crust of freshly baked bread. In the mouth it is tasty and delicate at the same time, with an excellent balance between delicacy and persistence.
Durin is a small family-run farm with a long history. It is located in Ortovero, in the province of Savona and was founded in 1978 by Antonio Basso, the third generation of winemakers in his family. The first vineyards of the company date back to the twenties and today extend over 17 hectares, mostly terraced, in Valle Arroscia. The main autochthonous varieties of Liguria di Ponente are cultivated, thanks to a very particular microclimate, influenced by the hills and the sea which is only 7 kilometres away. In the winery, tradition and innovation happily coexist. So next to the traditional Ligurian wines there are other very special and interesting ones.
