TAL 1930, Cuvée Alto Adige DOC is a wine created to celebrate 1930, a significant year for the Santa Maddalena Winery, now part of Cantina Bolzano. But first things first. The South Tyrol region, with its contrasting alpine and Mediterranean environments, offers an ideal habitat for growing white grape varieties. The TAL 1930 vineyards, in particular, are located between 400 and 700 metres above sea level, in the areas of Leitach and on the Renon plateau. Here the temperature variations, the intense light reflected by the Dolomites and the winds from the Isarco Valley contribute to a slow and constant ripening of the grapes. Specifically, TAL 1930 combines three classic vines: Chardonnay, in large part, with Sauvignon and Pinot Grigio. This blend is the result of years of research and experimentation to achieve the perfect balance. The grapes, hand-picked from the best plots, are gently pressed. The wine then matures in steel and a small part in wooden barrels, to enhance the aromatic characteristics and preserve freshness. TAL 1930 has golden reflections that blend into straw yellow tones. The nose offers a complex bouquet: exotic fruits such as mango, pineapple and melon combine with fresh notes of pink grapefruit and lime. Hints of apple, pear, lychee and flowers such as elderberry and jasmine complete a rich and intriguing aromatic profile. In the mouth it is fresh, enveloping and harmonious, with a pleasant minerality that makes it gratifying and easy to drink. A versatile white, it goes well with fish dishes, shellfish, risottos and delicate white meats. Also ideal as an aperitif.
