Vermentino, a grape that is madly in love with the sea and the warm climates of the coast, expresses itself best in Liguria. It gives life to wines of incredible finesse, like this Noname in Assolo proposed by Altavia. Vineyards in the area of Dolceacqua, grown with the traditional “alberello” method, it is processed only in steel to enhance the most typical scents of the variety. The result is a wine of great drinkability. Straw yellow in colour, the nose recalls pleasantly floral and balsamic sensations. In the mouth it is rich, endowed with a natural freshness and sapidity, it achieves the perfect balance thanks to the richness of its body. Overall, it is an elegant wine that is easy to pair with satisfaction. Its best, however, is achieved when enjoyed with some deliciously prepared fried fish. In that case, you can bet it is unrivaled.

      It was 2002 when two friends, Gianni Arlotti and Savino Luca Formentini, decided to set up a new winery in Liguria, a land of elegant and rare wines. This is how L'Azienda Agricola Altavia came to be. Its name derives from the ancient salt road that runs across the whole of Liguria from Ventimiglia to La Spezia. The protagonist in the vineyards is undoubtedly the Rossese, an autochthonous vine from western Liguria. After all, the vineyards are located in Arcagna, a place that has always been indicated as the heart of the Rossese di Dolceacqua controlled denomination. The starting point is five hectares that extend over the heights that divide the Nervia valley from the Roya valley, close to the French border. But in addition to Rossese, Vermentino, Syrah and Viognier, of French inspiration, and Carignano are also planted. Today Altavia is a modern winery that also benefits from the experience of Federico Curtaz, oenologist and agronomist, responsible for the approximately 40,000 bottles produced each year.
