Jermann srl Località Trussio 11 Dolegna del Collio
Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia. This unusual blend forms the basis of what is without doubt the most representative wine of the Jermann winery (and which many consider to be one of the best Friulian wines around). The first 'trials' date back as far as the 1973 vintage, while the first vintage on the market was 1975. Historically, Vintage Tunina started out as a blend of the best grapes that were harvested late, depending on the vintage, about two weeks after the normal harvest on an area of about 16 hectares of vineyard planted on Ronco del Fortino. The name Tunina refers to the former owner of the land on which the original vineyard is situated, and is dedicated to Casanova's poorest lover, who was a housekeeper in Venice who was also called Tunina, or Antonia. As further proof of the great quality of this Friulian white (if proof were needed), in 1979 it was defined by Luigi Veronelli as 'The Mennea of Italian wines'. Since then, this bottle has received awards and recognition all over the world. Brilliant straw yellow in colour with golden reflections, the nose reveals intense, ample and very elegant aromas. Above all, hints of honey and wild flowers. In the mouth, the Vintage Tunina tastes dry, soft and very harmonious. The persistence is exceptional, thanks to a full body. This is also why it goes well with truffled first courses, fish dishes and white meats. Good today, the Vintage Tunina knows how to wait. On average it can evolve in the cellar even for 7 or 8 years, in the best vintages, however, its vitality remains unchanged even beyond 10 years.
We are in one of the most beautiful wine-growing areas in Italy, if not the world. This is where the Jermann winery is located. We are in the heart of Collio, the north-eastern border with Slovenia. Here the territory is characterised by a mild climate, thanks to the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, and by a unique soil, the ponca, a calcareous and clayey soil that gives the wines a high level of minerality. The history of the Jermann winery began in 1881, when Angelo, great-grandfather of the current owner Silvio, planted the first vineyards in Ruttars, a hamlet of Dolegna del Collio. In the following years the company expanded and began to produce quality wines, establishing itself as one of the most important realities of Collio. Today Jermann covers an area of about 200 hectares, of which 170 are vineyards and 20 are arable land. The vineyards are located in various areas of Collio, including Ruttars, Villanova, Lonzano and San Floriano. The vines cultivated are those typical of the area, such as Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Renano, Friulano, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Still a family business, Jermann has made quality and sustainability its founding values. In fact, the winery is committed to a sustainable viticulture project, which involves the use of innovative techniques for vineyard management and the application of circular economy principles.
