The grain size index (ratio of sand/silt + clay) indicates a very fine soil texture explored by the roots, with a prevalence of silt and clay over the sandy fraction. This is a soil that gives the wine obtained from the grapes grown on it structure, finesse and complexity.

      "Garombello" Langhe DOC Nebbiolo 2023
    • Say Langhe and you instinctively think of Nebbiolo. But not necessarily to an important and austere wine. Sometimes, in fact, even nobles like to leave their palaces to mingle with the common people. This is the case with this pure Nebbiolo, which, while not lacking in finesse and elegance, demonstrates great drinkability. This is due to its natural freshness and soft, barely noticeable tannin. These characteristics derive from the vineyard from which it comes, but also from the skilful ageing to which it is subjected in the Abbona cellar. Characterised by a barely noticeable tannicity and a rich fruity component, Garombello is a red that should be drunk young. Within its first five or six years of life, in fact, it develops its aromas of roses and small red fruits to the full. Served at the right temperature, around 16 to 18 degrees, this Langhe red can satisfactorily accompany savoury dishes such as tagliatelle with mushrooms or meat sauce.

Celso Abbona, great-grandfather of the current owners of the company, was one of the first of his generation to believe in the potential of the Dogliani area and to valorise Dolcetto, the grape that was able to achieve excellence on these hills. This is how the company was born, with a lot of hard work and passion. It was Celso himself who planted the legendary Bricco Doriolo vineyard, in the hamlet of Santa Lucia di Dogliani, which today represents one of the most prestigious cru of the denomination. Over the years, and as new generations joined the company, it grew and expanded, particularly towards the Langhe. These were the years when the Barolo bet was still to be won. Thus the first plots of land were purchased, allowing the company to harvest and bottle the first Nebbiolo. And it was a success. Today, the new generations carry on the work, continuing with the same commitment to produce great wines from the territory. The company can count on around 52 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Dogliani, Monforte d'Alba and Novello, all conducted in a sustainable way, to produce good wines, with full respect for nature. Many of the family's vineyards, still worked by hand according to methods handed down through generations, are composed of old vines, even 60 years old. They are plants of rare beauty and capable of expressing the highest quality of their terroir.
