CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeVino rosso fermo
  • Location Piedmont
  • Grapes DOLCETTO 100%
  • Sensations The particular composition of the soils and the temperature-controlled fermentation enhance the typical characteristics of the Dolcetto d'Alba vine which, by its nature, produces a ruby red wine with intense violet hues. The bouquet is fresh, fragrant and fruity and immediately recalls morello cherries. The dry, pleasantly harmonious flavour is due to the low acidity.
  • Vinification The grapes, harvested exclusively by hand, are immediately brought to the cellar so that they arrive there perfectly intact. After being gently crushed and destemmed, they are left to ferment in small temperature-controlled fermenters at 28-30°C. After about 4 days of maceration, the wine, which is not yet completely dry, is separated from the pomace and ends its fermentation slowly at a low temperature, thus enhancing its particular fruitiness.
  • Alcoholic strength 13% vol
  • Allergens Contains sulphites

Dolcetto d'Alba "Madonna del Dono" DOC 2023
  • Dolcetto d'Alba DOC Madonna del Dono belongs to the Selections line of Cantina Marchesi di Barolo. A typical wine, produced from grapes harvested in the company's vineyards located in Madonna di Como, a small hamlet a few kilometres east of the town of Alba. We are at an average altitude of about 400 metres above sea level, with predominantly calcareous soils, with a high presence of quartz sand and very fine silt. This particular composition enhances the typical characteristics of the Dolcetto d'Alba vine. A wine characterised by a beautiful ruby red colour with intense violet hues, this Dolcetto has fresh and fragrant aromas. Pleasantly fruity, it immediately recalls marasca cherries. In the mouth it is dry, pleasantly harmonious, with a decidedly modest acidity. It is a wine capable of expressing itself at its best in its first years of life. It should therefore be uncorked immediately, pairing it with simple hors d'oeuvres or tasty dishes such as typical egg tagliatelle served with a meat sauce.

Barolo, the extraordinary wine that the whole world envies us, was born just a few metres from the company headquarters. The historic cellars of Marchesi di Barolo are in fact located in the centre of Barolo, just a few steps away from the castle that was the home of the last Marchesi Falletti, the first ever to produce the noble red wine of kings. The Abbona family, the current owners of Marchesi di Barolo, ideally continue the work begun by the Fallettis, placing themselves as faithful interpreters of the traditional vines and their places. Never as in this case the saying "combining tradition and innovation" applies. The company works with the main vines of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, vinifying the most prestigious crus in purity, refining them and proposing them individually, to better exalt their different expressions. Knowledge of and respect for the different grape varieties and individual terroirs, combined with a vinification process that enhances their strengths. All this is Marchesi di Barolo.
