    Cape Dreams Shiraz 2023
  • In France, its home region, and more generally in the Old World, it is called Syrah. Even in Italy, in Tuscany in particular, it is used to give rise to wines of great pleasantness and character. Outside Europe, and particularly in Australia and South Africa, as in this case, it is instead called Shiraz. The grape variety, let's be clear, is the same. But the resulting wine is decidedly different. Finer in the Old World, particularly where grapes grow in a cooler climate. More powerful and structured when Shiraz is grown on more fertile soils with more sun and heat. And this Cape Dream is no exception. Matured in large oak barrels for about 9 months, this Shiraz is particularly elegant and intense, with typical smoky aromas. A good wine already, but capable of aging well in the cellar, gaining more aromatic complexity as the months go by. To be uncorked without hesitation when the evening involves savory meat dishes. Excellent with roasts.

South Africa is known as the "Rainbow Nation." This is because within it are represented different cultures that, with hard work, have struggled over the years to achieve a delicate democracy. Cape Dreams is one of the most interesting wineries in the country, synonymous, even internationally, with wines of excellent quality. The farm is located in the famous Roberston Valley, about 140 km from Cape Town, also known as the valley of wine and roses. Cold winters and sunny summers, with days that can also be quite hot. Fortunately, however, a constant current, typical of the region, has a cooling effect on the vineyards, at the same time representing a natural anti-parasite. Founded in 1964, Cape Dreams has about 600 hectares planted with vines and a winery equipped with the latest technology.
