The Il Verro winery, located in the heart of the Caserta hills, was founded by Cesare Avenia in 2003. We are located between Monte Maggiore and the Volturno river. This area, much loved by the Bourbon royal family, is famous for wild boar hunting and offers ideal conditions for viticulture thanks to its privileged position and continental climate. The winery takes its name from the ‘boar’ (the male of the wild boar) and produces high quality artisanal and organic wines from indigenous grape varieties typical of the region, including Casavecchia, Pallagrello Bianco and Nero and Coda di Pecora. Rediscovered after years of oblivion, these interesting autochthonous varieties are at the heart of the production. The excellently exposed vineyards are surrounded by rich Mediterranean scrub vegetation, consisting of centuries-old olive, walnut and cherry trees, which contribute to a perfect environment for the vines to grow.
