    Ortrugo Colli Piacentini DOC 2023
  • When the aperitif is not just a way to prepare for lunch or dinner but a real pleasure. When a chopping board appears at the centre of the table with good cold cuts and a sliver of tasty cheese. In short, when the true ritual of the Italian aperitif is celebrated, the bottle to uncork is undoubtedly this one. Ortrugo, dry and sparkling, DOC. Cantina Campana offers it in this modern version, made with a fast fermentation in steel tanks, activated with the use of indigenous and selected yeasts. The result is a pleasantly fresh wine, as can already be guessed from the colour in the glass. Straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections, with a subtle petillant to make it even more delicate and brilliant. The nose is reminiscent of fresh flowers, in particular white rose, and fruity, with green apple notes in clear evidence. In the mouth, however, it is soft and moderately fruity. Well balanced in all its components, it is an extremely easy wine to drink. It is addictive. It is essential to always have a second bottle ready in the fridge.

Cantine Campana was established in 1972 as a small family-run business. The real leap in quality, however, came in 2010 when, thanks to a project financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region and the European Union, the winery was able to expand its plant to improve the control of production processes and the quality of finished products. Located at the junction between the Val d'Arda and Val Chero, the winery can now count on an annual production of around one million bottles, 80% of which are registered in the main DOC wines of Piacenza tradition. And so wines such as Gutturnio, Barbera, Bonarda, Ortrugo, Malvasia Aromatica di Candia and Monterosso Val d'Arda, in different variants, from sparkling to still.
