Maximum expression of longevity and freshness. This is how this wine is described by its 'creators'. Campo Serà is a Lugana DOC superiore, which is made from 100% Turbiana grapes, better known as Trebbiano di Lugana. Grapes harvested in a Cru vineyard, located between Peschiera del Garda and Sirmione, south of Lake Garda. Harvesting, by hand, begins in the last week of September and continues until the beginning of October. In the cellar, we begin with a long maceration on the skins, followed by a soft pressing and fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature. This is followed by a period of ageing in wood for about 6 months and in steel for a further 6 months. Then, after bottling, follows at least another 3 to 4 months of resting in the bottle. before marketing. A good wine already today, it is not afraid to remain in the cellar for a few months. The producers estimate a longevity of at least 2 years. Straw colour with some greenish reflections, the nose reveals intense, broad and rich aromas. Hints of lemongrass, golden apple, pear, apricot, pineapple and vanilla stand out. In the mouth it is full, round and characterised by a nice structure, pleasant acidity and interesting savouriness. What is most striking, however, is the bitter almond note that leaves an intense memory on the palate. Excellent as an aperitif, it goes well with first and second courses of fish, both freshwater and saltwater, but also with white meats such as rabbit or poultry.
A fine family business. We are talking about F.lli Fraccaroli, which at the beginning of this millennium radically changed the structure of its cellar, carrying out a total restructuring to allow the founder's sons, Luigi Fraccaroli, to continue the family's wine culture. New machinery has enabled the company to raise its quality standards, in order to face the international markets, particularly those of Northern Europe, with renewed impetus. Barrels were also purchased to age Lugana (and more generally all the family's wines). Today, the company has a potential of about 600 thousand bottles per year, even if at the moment about 450 thousand are bottled and marketed. An 'artisan' vision of work that is typical of the wine families of yesteryear. With time, the company will grow.... but without haste. Every step at the right time!
