From Switzerland with love. This could be summarized as the beautiful story of Muri-Gries, dating back to 1845 when, a group of Benedictine monks from Muri, Switzerland, arrived in Gries, just outside Bolzano. Here they took over the abbey of the Augustinian canons and with it their wine business, which was already centuries old. Thus was born a close symbiosis between convent, winery and vineyards, which has remained intact to this day. Today, the Muri-Gries winery can count on the production of excellent wines made exclusively from the grapes of the estate's finest vineyards. In the winery, modern steel tanks are used for vinification. Then wooden barrels and barriques to complete the aging of the good wines made especially from Lagrein, an indigenous variety that loves the South Tyrolean soils.
