Nestled in the heart of the Haut-Médoc, Château Caronne Sainte-Gemme, this domaine is located to the south of the prestigious Saint-Julien estates. Its origins date back to the 17th century, when the first documents attest to the cultivation of vines on these lands. The name ‘Caronne’ comes from the Gallic word ‘Carona’, meaning ‘small spring’, while ‘Sainte-Gemme’ is a linguistic evolution of the name Saint-Jaime, linked to historical maps from the 18th century. The history of the estate is linked to the traditions of the medieval pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Wayfarers, after crossing the estuary from Blaye, would find a resting place here before venturing into the Landes. During the French Revolution, the local parish was suppressed, but it was during this period that Caronne's wine vocation was consolidated. Since 1900, the estate has been managed by the Borie family, with the current generation represented by Jean and François Nony, who continue to enhance the domaine's potential. In recent years, the company has invested in new technologies: a modern vinification unit, the renovation of the cellars and a temperature-controlled storage area. These improvements reflect the constant commitment to excellence and respect for tradition.
