Located in the heart of the renowned Napa Valley, Quintessa represents one of the spearheads of Californian winemaking. It was founded in 1990 by Agustin and Valeria Huneeus, a Chilean couple with long experience in the wine business. Agustin, in fact, came from a successful experience at the famous Chilean winery Concha y Toro. The Napa Valley, one of the most fascinating areas for wine production, stretches for about 48 kilometres along the Napa River. Characterised by a mild climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters, the soils are rich in volcanic minerals. Ideal conditions for growing grapes, particularly on the west side of the Silverado Trail, where the Quintessa estate is located. This is distinguished from other wineries in the region by its production philosophy that focuses exclusively on a single red wine, a blend of extraordinary refinement named after the winery itself, to which is added a white wine, again inspired by French ‘grandeur’. An approach that evidently pays off well, given that today Quintessa is one of the most appreciated by critics and enthusiasts worldwide.
