In the heart of the prestigious Margaux appellation, on the Rive Gauche of the Bordeaux region, lies Château Rauzan-Ségla, a wine estate that embodies centuries of history and tradition. Founded in 1661 by Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, the property has undergone numerous changes over the centuries, consolidating its reputation as a producer of excellent wines. In 1855, during the famous classification of Bordeaux wines, Château Rauzan-Ségla was included in the list of Deuxième Grand Cru, a recognition that emphasises the superior quality of its wines. The Château's vineyard covers about 66 hectares, with a variety of soils that contribute to the complexity of its wines. Furthermore, the proximity to the Gironde estuary plays a crucial role in the microclimate of the vineyard, acting as a thermal regulator and favouring optimal ripening of the grapes. In 1994, the Chanel fashion house, led by the Wertheimer family, took over the property, investing heavily to further improve the quality of the wines and restore the historic buildings. And for the estate's 350th anniversary in 2011, Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel's creative director, designed a special label to celebrate the occasion.
