Today we are in the heart of Saint-Émilion. Here stands Château Pavie Macquin, founded in the 19th century by Albert Macquin, a pioneering figure who left his mark on the history of wine. Albert Macquin, in fact, is famous for saving French vineyards from the phylloxera catastrophe. It was his intuition to graft European vines onto resistant American roots. A practice that is still widely used today and that not only saved French vineyards, but literally transformed the world of oenology. Today, his descendants carry on this legacy with the same passion and dedication, keeping Château Pavie Macquin among the finest in the world. The castle is located in a privileged position, on one of the highest hills of Saint-Émilion, an area that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The vines cultivated are those typical of Saint-Émilion, with a predominance of Merlot, which accounts for around 70% of production.
