Verduno Castle is located in the heart of the Piedmontese Langa. A historic winery, its roots go back as far as the 16th century, when the Cerrato family began construction of the castle. Over the centuries, it became a symbol of the region's viticulture, passed under the control of the Savoys and then King Carlo Alberto who, in 1838, entrusted it to the management of Carlo Staglieno, a pioneer of oenology. Today, the winery is managed by the Bianco family, which, with its long winemaking tradition in Barbaresco, has contributed to enhancing the prized Nebbiolo and Pelaverga grape varieties. The latter, in particular, is a rare and indigenous vine that grows exclusively in Verduno. And it was precisely at Castello di Verduno that they were the first to dedicate themselves, with courage, to the cultivation of this vine back in 1972. Even today, the winery's philosophy is based on tradition, with vinification that respects historical methods, such as fermentation in open vats and ageing in large oak barrels.
