Alamos

The real speciality of the respected Argentine winery Alamos is Malbec. This interesting variety, of French origin, was imported to Mendoza back in 1852 by the French winegrower Pouget. Here, on the other side of the world (literally), it has found an ideal habitat, resulting in production of the highest quality. In addition to Malbec, however, Alamos also cultivates the other typical variety, Torrontés, in its high-altitude vineyards in the regions of Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Unique plots are located at altitudes between 3,000 and 5,000 metres above sea level. Here, the climate is decidedly 'mountainous' and the large temperature variations between day and night favour the ripening of healthy grapes rich in natural acidity. The good sun exposure, on the other hand, guarantees a fine concentration of aromas and flavours.
