Lazio

Lazio is the central region of Italy which is home to the capital, Rome, as well as the Vatican.

Apart from being extensive, Lazio's vineyards also have a millennial history as its capital and boasts 3 DOCG, 27 DOC and 16 IGT. Here, wine production is centred on the white wines, both in fixed versions and sparkling and among these one of the most famous is Frascati Superiore DOCG, influenced by the region's volcanic soils and capable of expressing the character of the local indigenous grape varieties. Lazio's red wines on the other hand represent 24% of the regional wines, but even these are waiting to be discovered!
