Château Talbot Saint Juliene Grand Cru Classé 2017
  • This time we are in one of the smallest and most prestigious areas of the Bordeaux region: Saint-Julien. Known above all for the production of high-quality red wines, those of Saint-Julien are sought after for their extreme elegance and structure, but above all for their great longevity. The Saint-Julien area covers a relatively small territory and is home to some of the most prestigious wine estates in the region. The wines, again a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, are often taken as an example for their perfect balance between power and refinement. Medium body, good acidity and soft tannins are among the characteristics that also characterise this Château Talbot, 4ème Cru Classé. After vinification, this red wine matures for 15 months in barriques, 60% of which is new wood. This slow ageing increases its complexity, allowing it to age beautifully for many years to come. Today it is the wine that can make an evening where the menu is all about meat more enjoyable. Excellent with red meats cooked quickly on the grill as with roasts and stews.

Château Talbot, 4ème Cru Classé from Saint-Julien, is one of the most interesting wineries in the Haut-Médoc area. Acquired by Désiré Cordier in 1918, Château Talbot is today run by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon. Its vineyard extends over 110 hectares in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation. The vines here are on average 45 years old and lie on the edge of the Gironde estuary.
