Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé B is an additional classification that identifies an even more prestigious wine within the AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. This classification refers to a restricted selection of vineyards that have been considered to be of exceptional quality and have been elevated to the status of 'Premier Grand Cru Classé'. Considered wines of the highest level, extraordinary quality, complexity and prestige, these are the labels that are often sought after by collectors the world over. The one proposed here by Château Quinault L'Enclos comes from a blend in which Merlot plays almost an absolute leading role, as is typical for Saint-Émilion, with an addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc to give some support and verticality. In the glass, it has a beautiful, compact garnet red colour. The nose is an explosion of fresh fruit and sweet spices. In the mouth, however, it is particularly juicy, with creamy, smooth tannins. Fat and generous, its finish is rich, enveloping and very long. A good wine even today, it is not afraid to spend a few years in the cellar to further refine itself. When the time is right, however, it will undoubtedly be able to repay the wait, magnificently accompanying tasty meat dishes. Excellent with the classic Fiorentina steak, it will certainly not make us miss the (still good) Chianti Classico.
