    Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2011
  • There are those who love Coppi and those who prefer Bartali. There are those who think Ronaldo is the strongest soccer player in the world and those who prefer Messi's style. In the wine world, there are those who love Cabernet Sauvignon and its austere complexity, and those who rave about the round, satisfying fruit of Merlot. For the latter, what is proposed here is an absolute champion. 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon, this red from the Bordeaux region comes from one of the areas most famous for the richness of its Merlot. We are talking about Saint Émilion, specifically a Grand Cru Classé. Here, thanks to expert care at harvest time and careful selection of the best grapes, the winemaker is able to achieve a perfect balance between all the components of the wine. Indeed, the elegance of Merlot meets (and is complemented) by the more vegetal nuances typical of Cabernet. A balance that is achieved only through the skillful use of wood during maturation, and as many as 15 months of rest in new barriques. Excellent with flavorful meats, grilled or stewed.

Château Petit Faurie de Soutard is located in the municipality of Saint-Émilion in the Bordeaux area of the same name. Faurie is the ancient name of the area where a major battle took place during the Hundred Years' War. Separated in 1850 from neighboring Château Soutard, it has belonged to the Aberlen family since 1936. The farm is classified as "Grand Cru Classé." Its vineyards cover eight hectares, predominantly Merlot. With him Cabernet Franc and, of course  Cabernet Sauvignon.
