    This is a young wine, still crisp and with hints of tannins that need to soften. It is full, ripe and spicy, with hints of red-currant flavors. The bottling needs to age; drink from 2019. ROGER VOSS

  • The label leaves no room for misunderstanding. There's only Pinot Noir in this bottle. 100% Pinot Noir. And the grapes used by De Barfontarc, Coopérative de manipulation de l' Côte des Bar, hail entirely from the village of Baroville. The aim is to give life to a Champagne decidedly high-cuisine, or perfect to pair with lunches and dinners, based on fish but not only. And it has enough stuff, this Champagne, to go well with preparations based on meat, including red meat. Born from a simple and traditional workmanship. After vinification, malolactic fermentation is encouraged which adds depth to the base wine. This is followed by a long resting period in the cellar, which can last over 4 years. The result is a wine endowed with a fine effervescence, characterized by a beautiful light yellow color with slight copper reflections. On the nose, it offers hints of candied red and yellow fruits, croissants and a touch of spice. On the palate it is a vast and round wine. A glass destined to give great rewards to those who choose it as a snack companion.

    De BarfontarThere is a cooperative, what in France is defined by the acronym CM, or Coopèrative de manipulation. Basically a company that produces wines from grapes that are contributed by small farmers in the area. It is based in Baronville. The location is the Croquette des Bars in Champagne. De Barfontarc was founded in 1962, thanks to the initiative of about 50 growers who decided to join forces to face an increasingly complex and global market more effectively. In the beginning it was simply a pressing center. But with the passing of the years and the increase in the number of contributing members (today there are more than 110), the company has gradually grown and organized itself and created its own brand. The name of Barfontarc originates from the initials of the three villages from which the first vignèrons came, namely Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville.
